RF ABLATION

RADIO-FREQUENCY ABLATION

Bringing new innovative product and techniques to these region.

Surgically removal of tumour is the main treatment for liver cancer patients. However, the majority of these patients are not suitable to go through surgery by the time the tumour was detected.

Radiofrequency (RF) ablation is a safe and effective treatment to achieve tumor destruction for such patients and also for primary liver cancer patients.

In addition, RF ablation is a relatively quick procedure and can be performed via laparotomic approach, laparoscopic approach or percutaneously under local anaesthesia. Hence RF ablation offers a minimally invasive procedure and it has become a common procedure to manage liver cancer.

Thyroid Nodules Ablation

Now with the new ablation techniques, RF ablation of benign thyroid nodules is made possible as the latest treatment option for patients all over the world. RF ablation is a minimally invasive methods for treatment of benign thyroid nodules. This procedure is suitable for patients who are not suitable for surgery or do not wish to go for surgery.

Radiofrequency (RF) ablation has been proven to be effective in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules regardless of the extent of the solid or cystic component. In addition, unlike surgeries which create a long and big scar on the neck of patients, RF ablation leaves only a needle (pin-hole) scar on the neck.

RF System

The STARmed VIVA RF Generator is designed to create the predictable and consistent ablation zone by using the optimized ablation modes for various nodules. It is easy to use with smart user interface which provides the exact information related to procedure details.

Adjustable Ablation Tips

The VIVA RF electrode is a single electrode which is designed to be used in multiple nodules. Traditional single electrodes create fixed ablation volume, but VIVA RF electrode is able to make the varisized ablation volume by adjusting the active tip. It has a radio-paque marker which shows the position of electrode clearly on the fluoroscopic image.

Fixed Ablation Tips

The star RF electrodes of fixed type are intended to be used in percutaneous, intraoperative and laparoscopic approaches in radiofrequency ablation procedures. Coolant circulation system of electrode maintains suitable impedance at the surface of electrode. It also prevents tissue adjacent to active tip from charring and helps to make an ideal spherical ablation zone.

The star electrodes are easy to insert and reposition on a nodule because of its thin diameter.
